The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Also called The DHR or the Toy Train is a two-foot (610 millimeter) gauge train that is located through New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. It was built between 1879 and 1881 It is approximately 88 kilometers (55 miles) long. It climbs from 100 meters (328 feet) above the sea level in New Jalpaiguri to about 2,200 meters (7,218 feet) at Darjeeling with six zig-zags and five loops to climb. Six diesel locomotives run the majority of the scheduled trains and regular tourist trains that run from Darjeeling to Ghum India's highest railway station - as well as steam-powered Red Panda route between Darjeeling up to Kurseong. Steam-loving specials are operated by British-built vintage B-Class steam engines. The railway's headquarters are located at Kurseong.

On the 2nd of December, 1999, UNESCO officially declared DHR as a World Heritage Site. Two railway lines were added later and the place was referred to as one of the mountain railways in India.
