Do drul chorten

The largest stupa located in Sikkim, Do Drul Chorten was constructed around 1945 and was built under direction of Truslshi Rimpoche. With a prominent position among all the sacred sites of Sikkim the stupa is lined by the 108 Mani the Lhakor Prayer Wheels. It is a perfect place to reconnect with the soul of the person within.

The months of October and June are the ideal timing to schedule your trip.

It is open every day of the week, from 8 am to 6 pm.

The stupa is situated close it to Namgyal Institute of Tibetology and the Gangtok Centre.

Do Drul Chorten was built in 1945, by Trullshi Rimpoche who was the head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism.

It is thought to be one of the most beautiful monastery sites in Gangtok.

The place was once believed to be cursed with evil spirit. In the following years, a revered and revered Guru Rinpoche has blessed the area by purifying it of any negative.

It contains a total of 108 prayer wheels with mantras written upon them. They are written Tibetan.

The sprawling complex is so large that it could house more than 700 monks.
