Bakhthang Falls, The Bakthang waterfall is only 20 minutes drive from Gangtok town to a place called Swastik, adjacent to the army cantonment area. A serene waterfalls cascades down the rock forming a small pool down below. It is located along the 31A National Highway connecting to North Sikkim. In local language ‘Bak’ means a forest and ‘thang’ meaning meadow or place.

Tashi Viewpoint, This charming little Tashi View Point is a perfect place to witness the brilliant surroundings like mountains, valleys and Gangtok itself. This famous tourist point is located at a distance of 8 km from the town and is mostly known for offering some of the best sunrise and sunset views. One can witness the changing of colours of the Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu Peaks as the sun slowly moves from this view point along with the glimpse famous monasteries of Gangtok, Phodong and Labrang.

Bhanjhakri Falls, The Banjhakri Falls and Energy Park is a recreation centre and tourist attraction near Gangtok, in the state of Sikkim, India. The park’s statuary and other displays document the Ban Jhakri, or traditional shamanic healer who worships spirits living in caves around the falls.

Ganesh Tok, Ganesh Tok is a small Ganesh Temple located 7 km from Gangtok at an altitude of 6500 m and can accommodate just one person at a time and one has to crawl to reach there. But a panoramic view of the entire town of Gangtok, the Raj Bhavan complex and mount Kanchenjunga can be seen from here and makes for a breathtaking view.

Plant Conservatory, The Plant Conservatory at Bulbulay near Gangtok stands in semi-wilderness on the road that connects Gangtok to Hanuman Tok. Sikkim is home to over 400 species of plants and trees, and the conservatory is intended to make the region a botanical hub of the future. For the layperson, the conservatory is merely an exotic garden growing naturally on the hillside. Placards, give away the academic intent of this place and help visitors put names to the trees.

Flower Exhibition Centre, Flower Exhibition Centre, which is situated in Gangtok, showcases flowers from the different parts of Sikkim together under a single roof which makes it a heaven for all the nature lovers. Located right across the White Memorial Hall and below the Ridge Park, it lies at a walking distance from the MG Marg. Though the flowers are displayed here all through the year, the annual flower show which is held from April to May should not be missed out on as during this time, the management gathers here and presents numerous varieties of orchids along with other flowers from around the state.

Handicraft Centre, Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom is the recent name given to the old Handloom and Handicrafts Centre of Sikkim which was set up in 1957. The museum is located at a distance of half kilometre from the main market of Gangtok. It is also known as the Government Institute of Cottage Industries (GICI).

Do Drul Chorten, Do-drul Chorten is a stupa in Gangtok in the Indian state of Sikkim. The stupa was built by Trulshik Rinpoche, head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism in 1945. Inside this stupa is a complete set of Dorjee Phurba, Kangyur and other religious objects. Around the stupa are 108 Mani Lhakor or prayer wheels.

Institute of Tibetology, Since its establishment in 1958, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology has sponsored and promoted research on the religion, history, language, art and culture of the people of the Tibetan cultural area which includes Sikkim. The NIT library holds one of the largest collections of Tibetan works in the world outside Tibet and a museum of Tibetan iconography and religious art. It has published the Bulletin of Tibetology since 1964 and numerous books over the years.
