If you want to go NJP to Darjeeling (its nearly 80 k.m) - there have 3 way of journey toy train, Private or share car and Bus services. 

Train: take 7 hours to cover the distance but its very enjoyable - if you don't have any hurryness then you can ride with Train - Train fare Rs-100 - 650. you can enjoy the forest area as well as mountain view.

Taxi:- you can book private Taxi or share luxary taxi from us - DBS TRAVELS - Fare 2500-3500 (private) and share innova per head@800. In case of car or taxi which cover the journey within 2 hours30 minutes. Taxi or Car services is very safest journey.

Bus - Bus journey is very cheapest just Rs- 200 - 400 but its take more time then taxi nearly 3 to 4 hours - basically bus journey is not comfortable in hill area but its comfort in budget.
