How to get there
Yumsesamdong is normally included as a part of three-point tour which takes visitors through North Sikkim to Lachung, Yumthang Valley and Yumesamdong/Zero Point. Only registered vehicles of the government are permitted to travel through this area of Sikkim. The most efficient method is to stop at Lachung for the night and then drive to Yumsesamdong the next day early.
What time should I land?
Get a taxi for Zero Point early morning from Lachung because visibility is higher in this period at high altitudes. The ideal timing to be there is in April or May, when Rhododendrons are blooming and the entire path which connects up to Zero Point looks almost like the work of Money but it's in motion. The months of January and December are the best to avoid as the region gets a lot of snow at this season.

The journey from Zero place is not recommended for those suffering from breathing problems as it can cause altitude sickness.
Because it is located in a protected area the need for valid permits is necessary for visitors to Zero Point. These permits can be obtained at the tourist office in Gangtok or the District Administrative Center in Mangan or Chungthang's Sub Division Magistrate's office.. Make sure you wear warm clothes. You will have to get a pair of gloves, snow boots and coats. They are all available to rent from Yumthang Market, which is located near Zero Point. Be sure to carry enough cash as there aren't any ATMs in the area. Make sure to carry medications in case you experience altitude illness.
